Community Guidelines

How we expect everyone on Javern to treat each other.

Updated 31 July 2026

Effective date: 2026-07-31

Javern only works when Buyers, Vendors, and Javern staff treat each other with respect. These Community Guidelines are the ground rules for how everyone should behave on the Platform.

1. Be respectful

  • Treat every Buyer, Vendor, and staff member fairly.
  • Disagreement is fine. Personal attacks aren't.
  • Assume good faith — most misunderstandings clear up with one polite message.

2. Zero tolerance

The following behaviour will result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal:

  • Threats, intimidation, or violence of any kind.
  • Harassment — repeated unwanted contact after being asked to stop.
  • Hate speech — targeting people based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
  • Sexually explicit or unsolicited sexual content.
  • Doxxing — sharing someone's private information without their consent.
  • Content sexualising minors — reported immediately to law enforcement.

3. Chat and messaging

  • Use the order chat for order-related communication.
  • Don't ask Buyers or Vendors to move off-platform for payment or negotiation.
  • Don't ask for personal information (BVN, passwords, OTPs, card details).
  • Don't spam other Users with unrelated messages, promotions, or link drops.

4. Reviews and ratings

  • Base reviews on your actual experience with the product and Vendor.
  • No fake reviews — from yourself, friends, or paid networks.
  • No coercion — a Vendor asking or pressuring a Buyer for a good review is a policy violation, and the same goes for Buyers threatening negative reviews to get discounts.
  • Reviews containing threats, hate speech, or personal attacks may be removed.

5. Listings and Store presentation

6. Account behaviour

  • One Buyer account per person.
  • One Store per Vendor.
  • No impersonation of another User, brand, or Javern staff.
  • No automation — bots, scripts, or scrapers.

7. Reporting problems

If you see behaviour that breaks these guidelines:

Reports are confidential.

8. Enforcement

We review reports and take proportionate action:

  • Warning — first-time minor violations.
  • Content removal — offending message, review, or listing removed.
  • Temporary suspension — repeated or moderate violations.
  • Permanent ban — serious or repeat violations.
  • Law-enforcement referral — threats of violence, content involving minors, or other criminal conduct.

See the Account Suspension Policy and Appeals Policy.
