Prohibited Items Policy

Javern is a fashion marketplace. Vendors may list clothing, apparel, shoes, accessories, and wearables only. This policy sets out what may not be sold on Javern.

1. Categories allowed

• Clothing and apparel (menswear, womenswear, unisex, kidswear).
• Shoes and footwear.
• Fashion accessories (bags, belts, hats, scarves, sunglasses, jewellery, watches).
• Wearables directly related to fashion.

Anything outside these categories is not allowed.

2. Prohibited items

The following items may not be listed for sale on Javern under any circumstances:

• Counterfeit or replica goods — items falsely presented as a designer or trademarked brand. See the Intellectual Property Policy.
• Firearms, ammunition, and weapons of any kind.
• Illegal drugs, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.
• Alcohol and tobacco.
• Adult / sexually explicit content or products.
• Human remains, body parts, or bodily fluids.
• Live animals or animal products that violate wildlife protection laws (ivory, endangered species, etc.).
• Hazardous materials — flammable, explosive, corrosive, or toxic substances.
• Prescription medication, medical devices requiring a licence, and health supplements making disease-treatment claims.
• Recalled products or items subject to a safety recall.
• Stolen goods.
• Items requiring a licence to sell that the Vendor doesn't hold.
• Digital-only goods (software licences, downloads, subscriptions).
• Services (installation, tailoring, consulting) — Javern lists physical products, not services.
• Currency, coins, gift cards, or anything functionally used as payment.

3. Restricted with conditions

Some items are allowed only when accurately labelled and legally sold:

• Second-hand / thrift clothing — must be honestly described as pre-owned, with condition disclosed.
• Vintage designer items — genuine only, with proof of authenticity where reasonable.
• Sample or defective items — must be clearly labelled as such.

4. Consequences

Listings that violate this policy are removed on discovery. Vendors who list prohibited items may be:

• Warned.
• Suspended.
• Permanently banned from Javern.

Severe or repeat violations (counterfeits, dangerous goods, illegal items) result in immediate removal and may be reported to law enforcement.

5. Reporting a prohibited listing

If you see a listing that shouldn't be on Javern, please contact our support team with a link and a short description of the issue. Reports are confidential.

6. Vendor's responsibility

Vendors are responsible for ensuring their listings comply with all applicable Nigerian laws and this policy — regardless of whether Javern has independently reviewed the listing. Absence of enforcement is not consent.
