Wallet Policy

How the Javern Wallet works for Buyers and Vendors.

Updated 31 July 2026

Effective date: 2026-07-31

The Javern Wallet is a Naira balance tied to a Javern account. This policy explains what wallets can do for Buyers and Vendors, and what limits apply.

1. Buyer wallet

  • A wallet is created automatically with every Javern account. Starting balance is ₦0.
  • Buyers can top up any time using Paystack (card or bank transfer). Top-ups reflect once Paystack confirms them.
  • Wallet balance can be spent at checkout by choosing "Javern Wallet" as the payment method.
  • Refunds (from rejected Orders, 72-hour auto-cancels, or approved returns) land in the buyer wallet instantly.
  • Buyer wallets cannot be withdrawn to a bank account. Balance stays on Javern for future purchases.
  • No expiry on buyer wallet balance.
  • No fees for topping up, paying with, or receiving refunds into the buyer wallet.

2. Vendor Javern Wallet

  • Only for Vendors, and only after BVN verification via Paystack. See the KYC Policy.
  • Verified Vendors receive:
    • A dedicated virtual bank account (Paystack NUBAN) for receiving deposits.
    • An available balance and a locked balance.
    • A WalletTransaction ledger for every credit and debit.
  • On Order acceptance, the Vendor's earnings are credited to available immediately.
  • Vendors can withdraw to any Nigerian bank account by entering account details at withdrawal time.
  • Withdrawal fee — flat ₦10 per withdrawal.
  • Minimum withdrawal — none set by Javern, but Paystack transfer minimums apply.

3. Legacy Vendor setup (no Javern Wallet yet)

For Vendors who haven't completed BVN verification:

  • Earnings go to a pending balance on Order acceptance.
  • Pending moves to withdrawable balance when the Buyer confirms delivery.
  • Only withdrawable balance can be withdrawn.
  • Vendors save up to 3 bank accounts in the Javern Vendor app and pick one at withdrawal.

4. Migration from legacy to Javern Wallet

  • When a legacy Vendor completes BVN verification, a Javern Wallet is created and any existing pending and withdrawable balances migrate into the new wallet's available balance in one transaction. Nothing is lost.
  • After migration, the Vendor uses the wallet flow exclusively (no more pending step).

5. Security

  • Wallet access requires a signed-in Javern account.
  • Wallet transactions are logged with a running balanceBefore / balanceAfter audit trail.
  • Wallet balances are held by Javern in trust for the account holder pending withdrawal or spend.

6. Freezing and holds

Javern may temporarily freeze part or all of a wallet balance if:

  • A dispute or fraud investigation is in progress.
  • A chargeback is filed against a related Order.
  • A KYC or compliance concern arises.

Frozen funds are released once the concern is resolved.

7. Account closure

  • On closing a Buyer account, any remaining wallet balance can be applied to an outstanding refund or spent on a final Order. It cannot be withdrawn.
  • On closing a Vendor Javern Wallet, remaining withdrawable balances are released to the Vendor's bank account subject to any active investigations.

8. Prohibited use

  • Wallets may not be used for peer-to-peer transfers between users.
  • Wallets may not be used to launder funds or evade taxes.
  • Deliberately abusing refunds to build wallet balance is grounds for suspension.
