Refund Policy

When refunds happen on Javern, how they're issued, and where the money lands.

Updated 31 July 2026

Effective date: 2026-07-31

This Refund Policy explains when Buyers are entitled to a refund and how refunds are issued on Javern. It sits alongside the Terms of Service, Buyer Policy, and Return Policy.

1. Where refunds land

All refunds on Javern are credited to the Buyer's Javern Wallet. Refunds are instant once approved. There is no refund-to-card path.

Wallet balance can be spent on any future Javern Order and does not expire.

2. Automatic refunds

You will be refunded in full automatically in these situations:

  • 72-hour auto-cancellation. If the Vendor doesn't accept or reject your Order within 72 hours of payment, the Order is cancelled and the full amount (product + shipping + service fee) is credited to your Javern Wallet.
  • Vendor rejection. If the Vendor rejects your Order, the full amount is credited to your Javern Wallet immediately.
  • Buyer cancellation while Pending Payment. No money has cleared, so nothing needs to be refunded.

Product inventory is restocked automatically in each case.

3. Refunds after delivery

Post-delivery refunds are handled between Buyer and Vendor via the order chat, with Javern support available to mediate.

  • Wrong item, damaged, defective, or not as described — full refund supported, usually with the item returned.
  • Change of mind — subject to the Vendor's own return policy, published on their Store page.
  • Partial refund — where Buyer and Vendor agree to keep the item at a discount.

See the Return Policy for return conditions.

4. Refund timeline

  • Automatic refunds (rejection, auto-cancel): instant to the Buyer's Javern Wallet.
  • Refunds tied to a return or dispute: instant once approved — the wait time is how long the Buyer and Vendor take to agree, or how long a support review takes.
  • Some return-based refunds are only released once the Vendor confirms receipt of the returned item.

5. What is refunded

  • Product price — refunded in full if the item is returned or if the Vendor is at fault.
  • Shipping — refunded when the Vendor is at fault (wrong item, damaged, defective, not as described) or when the Order was auto-cancelled or rejected. Not refunded when the return is a Buyer preference (e.g., change of mind).
  • Service fee (₦500) — refunded on auto-cancellation and Vendor rejection. Not refunded on a change-of-mind return of a delivered item.

6. Partial refunds

Where the Buyer and Vendor agree, a partial refund can be issued instead of a full refund. This is common when the Buyer chooses to keep the item at a reduced price.

7. Refunds that may be denied

  • Requests outside the Vendor's return window.
  • Items on the Vendor's non-returnable list (as published in their Store policy).
  • Items worn, washed, altered, or damaged after delivery.
  • Claims without supporting evidence (e.g., photos) when the store reasonably requires it.

See Why was my refund denied? and What if the seller rejects my return?.

8. Off-platform payments

Payments made outside Javern (direct bank transfer, gift cards, crypto, etc.) are not covered by this policy. Javern cannot refund what did not pass through the Platform. See How do I avoid scams?.

9. Abuse of refunds

Repeatedly requesting refunds without cause, or engaging in return fraud, may result in account suspension. See the Account Suspension Policy.
