Payments Policy
How payments, fees, and settlement work on Javern.

This policy sets out how payments are processed on Javern, what fees apply, and how funds move between Buyers, Vendors, and Javern.
1. Payment processor
All payments on Javern are processed by Paystack. Card details entered at checkout go directly to Paystack — Javern does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or PIN.
2. Currency
The Platform operates in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Prices, refunds, and payouts are all denominated in Naira.
3. Buyer payment methods
Buyers can pay for Orders using:
- Card — debit or credit card via Paystack.
- Bank transfer — via Paystack.
- Javern Wallet — balance from top-ups or refunds.
Saved cards are stored as Paystack authorisation tokens tied to your account for faster repeat checkouts.
4. When payment is confirmed
- Card and wallet payments are confirmed instantly.
- Bank transfers are confirmed as soon as Paystack completes them (usually seconds).
- Once payment is confirmed, the Order moves to "Payment Received" and the Vendor is notified.
5. Fees Javern charges Vendors
For each accepted Order:
- Service Fee — flat ₦500 per Order, retained by Javern.
- Commission — 5% of the product subtotal (not shipping, not the service fee), retained by Javern.
For withdrawals from the Javern Wallet:
- Withdrawal fee — flat ₦10 per withdrawal, retained by Javern.
Buyers do not pay any Javern fees directly; the service fee is included in the Order total.
6. Vendor earnings formula
vendor earnings = (product subtotal × 0.95) + shipping
Platform keeps: (product subtotal × 5%) + ₦500.

7. Settlement to Vendors
- Javern Wallet vendors (BVN-verified): earnings are credited to the wallet's available balance immediately on Order acceptance.
- Legacy vendors (no Javern Wallet yet): earnings accrue in a pending balance, moving to withdrawable when the Buyer confirms delivery.

8. Refunds
All refunds — automatic or manual — go to the Buyer's Javern Wallet. See the Refund Policy.
9. Off-platform payments
Payments made outside Javern (direct bank transfer to a Vendor, gift cards, crypto, etc.) fall outside the Platform's protections. Javern cannot confirm, refund, or dispute such payments. See How do I avoid scams?.
10. Chargebacks
If a Buyer files a bank chargeback for a Javern payment:
- Javern will work with Paystack to respond.
- The related Order may be held or reversed while the chargeback is under review.
- Fraudulent chargebacks may result in account suspension.
11. Taxes
- Prices shown may or may not include Value Added Tax (VAT) depending on how the Vendor lists them.
- Vendors are responsible for their own tax obligations on their sales.
- Any receipts required for accounting can be requested through support.
