Why was my withdrawal rejected?

Why was my withdrawal rejected — quick answer with steps and helpful context for Javern users.

Updated 31 July 2026

Overview

Withdrawals can be rejected by Paystack or by your bank for a handful of reasons — usually to do with the bank account details or a name mismatch. Rejected withdrawals return the full amount (minus any fee that was pre-charged) back to your available balance so you can try again.

Common reasons

  • Account name doesn't match your BVN. Paystack checks the name on your bank account against the one on your BVN — if they don't line up, the transfer is refused.
  • Invalid or wrong bank details. Wrong account number, wrong bank code, or a dormant account.
  • Bank not supported. A small number of banks may not accept Paystack transfers.
  • Bank-side rejection. Occasionally the receiving bank refuses the transfer for their own reasons.

What to do

  1. Open your vendor dashboard and tap "Wallet".
  2. Check the withdrawal in your history for the reason given.
  3. Fix the underlying issue:
  4. Try the withdrawal again.

If you can't work out why it was rejected, contact our support team with the withdrawal reference.
