Why isn't my verification working?

Fix problems verifying your BVN or identity as a Javern Vendor.

Updated 31 July 2026

Overview

BVN verification runs through Paystack. When it fails, it's almost always because the details on your Javern account don't match what your bank has on file for your BVN. Here's how to line them up.

Check these first

  1. Name match. Your legal name on Javern should match your BVN record exactly — same order, same spelling.
  2. Date of birth. Must match your BVN record.
  3. BVN is correct and current. Confirm with your bank if you're not sure.
  4. You have exactly one BVN. If you have more than one BVN registered (rare), verification won't behave predictably. Contact your bank.

What to do if it fails

  1. Update your Javern account name and DOB to match your BVN record. See How do I change my name?.
  2. Retry verification from the Javern Vendor app: Wallet → Verification → Enter BVN.
  3. If it still fails, contact your bank to confirm your BVN records.
  4. Still stuck? Contact our support team with your Vendor account details and the error message.

Common errors

  • "BVN not found" — the BVN you entered isn't recognised. Double-check the digits.
  • "BVN details don't match" — your Javern name or DOB doesn't match your BVN record. Update and retry.
  • "Verification service unavailable" — Paystack is temporarily unreachable. Retry after a few minutes.

After successful verification

  • Your Javern Wallet is created and activated.
  • Any existing pending and withdrawable balances migrate automatically into your wallet's available balance.
  • You get a dedicated virtual account for deposits.
  • You can withdraw to any Nigerian bank account.
