How does Javern protect users?

How does Javern protect users — quick answer with steps and helpful context for Javern users.

Updated 31 July 2026

Overview

Javern protects both buyers and sellers with a mix of account security, payment safeguards, order guarantees, and human moderation. Here's the short version of how it all fits together.

Account security

  • Password hashing — your password is stored one-way encrypted; nobody at Javern can read it.
  • Authenticated sessions — signed tokens that expire and are tied to your account.
  • Suspicious activity handling — accounts can be locked or suspended if we detect abuse.
  • Two-factor authentication — enable it for an extra layer. See How do I enable two-factor authentication?.

Payment security

  • Card payments run through Paystack. Card details are never stored on Javern in a form we can read.
  • Every payment webhook is signature-verified so nothing spoofed can update an order.
  • All amounts are in Naira; Paystack handles the actual settlement.

Order and refund safeguards

  • Stores have 72 hours to accept an order. If they don't act, the order auto-cancels and refunds you to your Javern Wallet — no chasing required.
  • If a store rejects an order, you get a full instant refund to your wallet.
  • All money moved between buyer and seller is traceable through your order timeline.

Communication

  • The buyer-seller chat opens only after the store accepts an order. That keeps early-order noise out and gives us a clear record if a dispute comes up later.
